Associate Pastor to Children

Basic Function
To follow a vision for children and family ministries that leads to developing continuity in discipleship and ministry direction for children and their families; to plan and direct the church’s children’s ministry; to serve with the Pastor as a primary caregiver for the congregation; to work with the Pastor in leadership functions; to work a flexible 5-day work week, including Sunday, averaging 40-55 hours.
Responsibilities
1. Provide leadership and long-range direction to the children’s ministry. This will include specific involvement with children’s ministry (birth through 5th grade), including enlistment and supervision of paid childcare workers, volunteers, and coordination of the work of the Children’s Ministry Team. [80%]
2. Work with the Pastor and staff to develop and ensure quality family ministry to all age groups. This will include assisting with the evaluation and improvement of ministries outside the children’s ministry area, including Sunday School, Home Group Ministry, and Outreach. [10%]
3. Perform other duties including assisting the Pastor in hospital, home, and nursing home visitation; providing idea generation and concept development in all areas of church life; serving as a member of the Church Council; and supporting denominational activities. [10%]
Qualifications
1. A decided commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
2. A clearly defined calling to Christian ministry and a demonstrated commitment to children and family ministry as an expression of that calling.
3. A master’s degree from an accredited seminary or graduate school is preferred.
4. Three to five years experience in Children’s ministries is preferred.
5. Support of FBCA’s identity and direction as described in its Mission Statement and its Identity Statement.
